The Loire Valley Châteaux are some of the most beautiful monuments in all of France. Testaments to Renaissance architecture, the Loire Valley castles were influenced be famous historical figures including François I and Catherine de Medici. Each castle has its own secrets and treasures to discover. The are tons of great guided tours. It’s the ideal option if you don’t want to deal with the hassle of planning or if you want expert information on the historic locations. You can also create your own itinerary, though we highly recommend renting a car.
France’s country code is 33. During your time traveling in the Loire Valley, make sure to dial the country code before calling local numbers if you’re calling from a non-French number. How to Travel around the Loire Valley
The easiest way to travel around the Loire Valley is by car. You’ll have more flexibility and be able to access some of the region’s hidden gems. It’s also a particularly beautiful area. Drive around Cheverny, Amboise and Blois to enjoy the panoramic views. If you aren’t able to rent a car, no worries! The Loire Valley has extensive local train and bus networks.
Post Box in France
You’ll likely want to send a postcard home describing your travels through the Loire Valley – the wine, the castles and beautiful nature. The bright yellow French post boxes are hard to miss and can be found in all cities and towns. You can buy stamps at La Poste, the French Post Office. Opening hours can sometimes be a little tricky. Offices are closed on Sundays and often Saturday afternoons as well. In smaller towns, they’re also sometimes closed between 12 and 2PM for lunch, so make sure you plan accordingly.
