Testaments to Renaissance architecture, the Loire Valley castles were influenced be famous historical figures including François I and Catherine de Medici. How to Travel around the Loire Valley
The easiest way to travel around the Loire Valley is by car. You’ll have more flexibility and be able to access some of the region’s hidden gems. It’s also a particularly beautiful area. Drive around Cheverny, Amboise and Blois to enjoy the panoramic views. If you aren’t able to rent a car, no worries! The Loire Valley has extensive local train and bus networks.

You’ll likely want to send a postcard home describing your travels through the Loire Valley – the wine, the castles and beautiful nature. The bright yellow French post boxes are hard to miss and can be found in all cities and towns. You can buy stamps at La Poste, the French Post Office. Opening hours can sometimes be a little tricky. Offices are closed on Sundays and often Saturday afternoons as well. In smaller towns, they’re also sometimes closed between 12 and 2PM for lunch, so make sure you plan accordingly.
