If you think Bordeaux is the only place worth visiting in the region, there’ll be so much to surprise you! Numerous vineyards dotting both the left and right bank of the Gironde Estuary forming one of the world’s most prestigious wine regions, and going further down along the Atlantic coastline you’ll see some of the best French beaches…
Stop dreaming, hire a car now and start your amazing road trip in France with our INSIDR suggestions!
Practical tips
How far is Bordeaux from Paris?
Compared to other popular road trips in France, the Bordeaux region is not necessarily the most convenient one to embark on. You will need to do a 6-hour drive from Paris in order to reach Bordeaux. That’s why some holiday makers prefer taking the TGV train from Paris Montparnasse station to Bordeaux and start their self-drive tour there.
A Paris to Bordeaux Road Trip
Nevertheless, if you’re courageous enough and wish to explore other sides of France, renting a car and driving down from Paris will allow you to witness the beauty of the castles in the Loire Valley, charming small towns or villages, or the countryside of the Dordogne river, for example.
For a family-friendly journey where you can do small stops and taking turns on the right-driving French roads, you should take non-motorway roads.
