Is it your first time traveling to Paris? In that case, you’d better be prepared to brave the cold weather. As sweet as autumn was, it was just too short! November is usually when the proper cold of winter sets in. The mood of the entire city also seemingly mimics that of the weather. But no worries, November is quite a lovely time of year in Paris! It’s a month that transitions between Halloween festivities to the warmth of Christmas’ atmosphere. Read our quick overview on what to expect of Paris in November 2019!
Weather in November
November’s weather is actually quite different from October’s because of the end of daylight savings. This month, the struggle to wake up in the morning will be less as the sun will be up as earlier around 7:45am. For those who are aiming to catch wonderful Parisian sunsets from some of Paris’ best rooftops, make sure you get there before 5:00pm! Daylight becomes a scarce resource in French winter. As for the temperatures, if you’re a fan of winter fashions, November is a great time! Expect an average temperature of about 11C with lows dipping to 6C.

Armistice
When: November 11
November 11th marks Armistice Day in France which commemorates the end of World War I. It is a solemn occasion where French people pay their respects to those who sacrificed their lives in the effort to win the war. As tradition dictates, precisely at 11:00am on the 11th day of the 11th month, a minute of silence is offered. French Republic President Emmanuel Macron is also expected to make an appearance on the Champs-Elysées.
INSIDR Tip: If you’re interested in catching a glimpse of the President, make sure to head to the statue of Georges Clemenceau, at the foot of the Arc de Triomphe. Otherwise, avoid the famous shopping avenue until after the parade when the roads have re-opened and when the crowds have dispersed.
Beaujolais Nouveau
When: November 21
To all the French wine lovers out there, it’s Beaujolais Nouveau once again! As per tradition, Beaujolais nouveau wine will be released for sale on the 3rd Thursday of November! But why is this wine so special? It’s basically a kind of red wine made from Gamay grapes from the Beaujolais region that’s only fermented for a few weeks. Some people hate it, some people love it, but overall, it creates a lively atmosphere across several restaurants and bars in France!
