It’s been a week since the extreme confinement measures were announced by French President Emmanuel Macron. While it is a necessary step in helping flatten the curve of cases so our medical front liners will not be overwhelmed, it hasn’t been easy for many.
Spring is in full swing in Paris with flowers abloom everywhere and the sun shining so brightly every day. Sadly, we can only enjoy it from our windows. People who have their own balconies are considered the lucky ones. Going out nowadays must be limited to once per day and we cannot be outside without an attestation.
While we’re indoors, a group of bears have been living their best lives! To say we’re envious is an understatement.

Les Nounours des Gobelins

These bears are called Les Nounours des Gobelins. Nounours in French means Teddy Bear. We don’t know exactly how this genius idea began but we do know that they come from the 13th arrondissement of Paris. Have a look at how these cute Teddy Bears have been enjoying the city during this lockdown in Paris.

“Where did everybody go?”
And while restaurants and bars have closed, some have been willing to welcome these Teddy Bears. Apparently, they’re good customers and they tip well.

And even though the rules apply strictly to humans, these bears have been gracious enough to follow the law. Here’s one traveling with his attestation!

And since masks and protective clothing have been running short in France, they’ve covered themselves in saran wrap! If only people could do the same…

Remember, Teddy Bears can enjoy apero together like this but us, humans can’t. Social distancing in public must be observed at all times!

Other Teddy Bears are over-protective of themselves and decided to stay home. But they’ve been caught staring out their windows a lot. Here are some activities they’ve been busy with:
Part 2 – Updates!

Watching French films, playing with their pets, and meditating.

From left to right: (1) this bear knows the importance of staying updated and staying safe! (2) he just wants to schedule a haircut,it’s an emergency! (3) meanwhile this bear has been watching chef Cyril Lignac on TV a lot!
These bears are working hard during the lockdown!

Don’t forget to put on your mask!
They also stand in solidarity with us as they never forget to applaud the all the medical staff, police, pharmacists, and supermarket staff who are doing their best to hold together local communities across France. They do it every night at 8pm!

We hope reading this has made you smile despite the circumstances we all face now. The bears and all of us from Team INSIDR send our love to wherever you may be in the world.
